EMNJ-1 in Torcelle: It began under two tents
Since 2009 · Mr Joseph
Mr Joseph started his school in 2009 under two tents on an abandoned plot of land in Torcelle, a very poor suburb of Port-au-Prince. For seven years he and his team worked without pay, in a small building that Bon Timoun rented for them.
In 2019 the school moved onto its own land, with seven classrooms made of corrugated iron. Its steady team and good name draw pupils from far around. When violence made the area impassable, the school moved to a rented stone building in Pétion-Ville.
