Education for life, not just for a living.
Bon Timoun is Haitian Creole for ‘good child’. Since 2018 our foundation has supported three primary schools in poor neighbourhoods of Port-au-Prince. There, children get lessons, a hot meal and a safe place to be.
Every euro reaches the classroom
Every euro goes directly to the children. Nothing is skimmed off along the way, and the board are unpaid volunteers.
In touch with the schools every day
We are in daily contact with the head teachers and teachers, and know them personally. So we know exactly what is going on.
Where is Haiti?
Haiti lies on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean Sea, next to the Dominican Republic. It is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. A third of the population is under fifteen. In the capital, Port-au-Prince, where our schools are, gangs have the streets in their grip. One in seven children has been displaced, and more than 750,000 children have fled violence.

EMNJ-1
Since 2009, started under two tents. Now temporarily relocated to Pétion-Ville.
Go to the school
The dots show the neighbourhood, not the school’s address.
What will you put in the backpack?
Choose what you want to give and watch it disappear into the backpack.
Sunday 8 November
Lalita runs the marathon for Bon Timoun
More than 42 kilometres, for more than 700 children. Your donation lets these children go to school, with lessons and a meal every day. Give any amount you like and run part of the way with her.
Raised: €3.405 of €4,219.50
Donations are updated daily (total up to and including 2 november)
Mèsi anpil!
That is how a pupil at EMNJ-2 in Galette puts it, with a sign the class made themselves: “I would like to thank you for being so generous and sponsoring us.”
