EMNJ-2 in Galette Greffin: The only school for miles around

Since 2018 · at the parents’ request

Galette Greffin is a dug-out riverbed where people built their own shelters after the 2010 earthquake. No electricity, no roads, no services. The parents asked Mr Joseph, head of EMNJ-1, to start a school here too, and in 2018 he did.

The school has more than 300 pupils, holds parents’ evenings on hygiene and nutrition, and has become the heart of the whole neighbourhood.

What Bon Timoun makes possible here

  • a well: water for the neighbourhood three times a week
  • a meal in the new canteen
  • schoolbooks for everyone
  • young trees to plant at home
